VE Day of Celebration & Scarecrow Competition

Update – unfortunately we have to cancel the VE Day of Celebration. The Scarecrow Competition will still go ahead.

Following last year’s successful Village Day, we are pleased to announce that there will be another Day and Evening of Celebration this year.  It will take place on Saturday 9th May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

We are planning a street tea party to take place from 1-4pm for Long Load Residents (donation on the gate to the Royal British Legion) and then an evening party with live music by a rat pack and swing band.  Tickets £12 per adult (£6 children under 12) to include hog roast from 7pm to midnight.  Licensed bar will also be available.  Dress code:  1940’s.

Any profits from the day will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

Scarecrow Competition – following the great success of our first Scarecrow Competition last year, we are organising another one to take place in April leading up to the VE Day of Celebration.  Winners will be chosen by ballot from the village and will be announced on the 9th May.  This year the scarecrow competition will have a theme of red, white and blue.

Please save the date and spread the word!

The numbers attending the nights so far have been excellent. It is everyone’s evening so ideas and help are always welcome. Just bring your own drink, a smile and a small donation for the pot to pay the hall fees and later for heating and lighting.  Who knows, any profit will be donated to something wonderful.

Crafty Folk Craft Club

The Crafty Folk afternoons take place every 2nd Wednesday of the month starting at 2 pm until 4:30 pm in Long Load Village Hall.

Everyone is welcome to come along to take part or sit and watch with a cup of tea and biscuits. You are also welcome to come along and bring your own project – Knitting, Sewing, Crochet etc.

We try to arrange something different each month. There is no joining fee but a small charge will be made for sessions to cover materials, demonstrators, and hire of the hall.
